November 26th is the first-ever #GivingTuesday event. My mom lived her life in helping others, in so many ways. She taught us by doing that giving to others matters, and should be a priority in life. Giving to others and for others doesn’t have to cost a lot, nor take a lot of time, but it does matter. The first “big” giving experience I had in my life, of my own accord, was the Christmas Day I spent with a local radio DJ’s charity, We Are the Children. This is a huge event put on each year to give back to children in our own area- a few hundred children, if I remember correctly. I was one of the elves- it was truly an amazing experience. I hope that I can find ways to instill the beliefs my mom did in my own kids. That’s part of why I wanted to be part of the first Giving Tuesday event!
