Aren’t these birds nest cupcakes adorable?!? I’m sure if I keep thinking Spring that it will come along sooner than later. These are so easy to decorate and are a great Easter treat. They’d also be a lot of fun for a baby or bridal shower party.
Supplies:
- 24 cupcakes cooled and ready to decorate
- buttercream frosting, colored a shade of brown for the nest (You can also use some cocoa powder to make it chocolate flavor but adding some brown color makes it look a richer brown color)
- 1 piping bag with #2 round tip
- 72 candy covered chocolate eggs in a variety of colors
- 24 flowers cut from fondant
- 24 edible pearls
Begin with completely cooled cupcakes. Again, this is so important to insure that the buttercream holds it’s shape well.
Place your buttercream in the prepared piping bag and begin applying the icing to the tops of the cupcakes. You’ll need to apply the icing in a circular motion but want to change directions and reduce and increase the size of the circle to make a natural looking nest, leaving a somewhat hollow area in the center.

Carefully place three eggs in each nest. With a touch of icing, add a fondant flower to the nest and an edible pearl for the center of each flower.
And that’s it! So simple yet elegant!
