Brett and I have recently had the opportunity of touring some really amazing American historical sites with American Heritage Chocolate including Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, and most recently Old Salem Gardens and Museum. These were amazing trips and left me inspired to create some new recipes at home using American Heritage Chocolate like these Chocolate Apple Pancakes.
American Heritage Chocolate Pancakes with Apples
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup American Heritage Chocolate (drink mix or grated chocolate)
- 1 cup finely chopped apples
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 3 tbsp melted butter
Instructions:
Preheat a skillet or griddle to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour with the baking powder, salt, sugar, and chocolate.
Whisk the egg and milk together and stir into the dry ingredients.
Once all other ingredients are well combined, add the melted butter and stir well. The mixture will remain somewhat lumpy and this is normal.
Stir in the diced apples.
Pour batter onto griddle and cook until tops begin to bubble.
Flip the pancakes and continue cooking until they are done through.
Remove the pancakes from the griddle. Top with butter, diced apples, and real maple syrup. I also grated a little bit of American Heritage Chocolate on top of the stack of pancakes!
Enjoy!

these pancakes sure are different form plain old pancakes, they look delicious. I would never have thought to pair chocolate and apples together in pancakes.
