The folks at Hostess challenged me (along with other bloggers) to make either a fun centerpiece or a fun holiday recipe with their products. Let Hostess snacks make your family’s holiday recipes a little sweeter. From Ho Hos to Twinkies, you can create a delicious holiday tradition for everyone to enjoy. We decided that since we as a family have fallen in love with trifle recipes, we’d take some Hostess yummies and make a Reindeer Trifle. It was an instant family favorite and we’ve already decided it’ll be a treat we enjoy as a family after we decorate the tree and house each year!
This trifle was super simple to create. Given that you are crumbling the Hostess snacks for the first and fourth layer, it’s also very kid-friendly for all ages to help. You can use any variety Hostess snack, and really, any size trifle dish (or glass dish, layered desserts are always more fun when you can see the layers!). I found all of my supplies for this recipe at Target, although I’ve checked and seen them all at Walmart as well).
Reindeer Trifle
Ingredients:
1 package Hostess Ding Dongs (really, any of their product would work here- Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Sno Balls, etc.
1 container whipped topping (or homemade)
1 tub vanilla pudding (or homemade)
4 mini trifle dishes (or 1 large)
Reindeer Decorating Kit
Nilla wafers
Directions
Open up your Ding Dongs and crumble them in your trifle dish. We used glass sundae dishes, so we did 1 Ding Dong for the bottom layer.
Add a layer of vanilla pudding on top of your crumbled Ding Dongs
Add a layer of whipped topping
Crumble 1 Ding Dong for the next layer (if using a small dish, more for a large)
Add one layer of whipped topping
Place one Nilla Wafer about in the center of your trifle
Add candy antlers, eyes, and the red bow (by the neck if you are making a boy reindeer, between the antlers if a girl)
Dab the jelly bean nose into the whipped topping and place it on the Nilla Wafer.
Enjoy!
** If you are using a large trifle dish, you could easily make both a female and male reindeer on top of your trifle.

This sounds like a treat my kids and I could make together.

How cute! I love this reindeer trifle… I think I will get the stuff to make them for our holiday gathering with friends, my daughter can put these together herself.

What a great idea to do with the kids. My daughter’s b/day is near Christmas and this would be such a fun idea and a time-killer (if you know what I mean).

Oh my gosh how super easy and cute I know my kids would love to make these all the time!
