I was a little skeptical the first time I tried Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese, I mean my oven recipe was pretty darn good so why mess with it right? But still I do love my crock pot and thought that I would give it a try- right around lunchtime I gathered everything up and tossed it in the slow cooker while I went about my day, planning an easy protein to go with it. When I sliced up thick slabs of mac n cheese we were delighted to find tender noodles,creamy sauce, and loads of flavor! This will definitely be on our dinner rotation, and makes a great side for Sunday night supper. Go ahead and give it a try one night this week for dinner- so easy and tasty your family will beg for it again!
Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese
Ingredients:
1- 12 oz. box macaroni, uncooked
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded colby-jack
1 cup chicken broth
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream
6 Tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. black pepper
Directions:
Coat inside of slow cooker well with non stick spray.
Pour uncooked macaroni into bottom of cooker.
Whisk together, chicken broth, milk, sour cream, pepper, and garlic salt- pour over noodles.
Stir in cheese- reserving about 1/2 cup for later. Top with butter cut into 6 slices.
Cook on low for 2- 3 hours until cheese is melted and creamy, stirring about halfway through cook time.
Top with remaining cheese, cook an additional 15 minutes to melt cheese.
