This.stuff.is.addicting. Seriously! The combination of sweet and savory is just amazing. I don’t often have Chex Mix when it’s not the holidays, but I have been feeling nostalgic and missing family and decided I would make a batch. My family has done batches of Chex Mix aka Nuts and Bolts, Holiday Crack, and I don’t know what else you have called it, but we’ve enjoyed it for decades and generations-so why not bring a little of the holiday fun to summer? Christmas in July, maybe? Thanks to our friends at CafeMom and General Mills for sponsoring today’s Gluten Free recipe post.
I wanted to give it a twist and make it a little different in flavor than traditional. We’re always looking for ways to incorporate ingredients that help our family be healthier. Chex is a healthier snack food option that families love (and it’s Gluten Free). If you are looking for a fabulous Gluten Free Chex Mix, look no further! Crunchy, sweet, salty it hits all your possible snacking cravings, making it the perfect party food or afternoon treat. Plus, our longtime-family favorite Chex cereals are Gluten Gree, have no artificial flavors and no colors from artificial sources. That means we can use Chex products as ingredients in our favorite snack mix recipes and treat recipes- and anyone who comes over can enjoy it with us- no worries about any gluten getting in the mix. We have several friends of our family who don’t do gluten, some because of Celiac Disease and some for a gluten intolerance- some just prefer to avoid gluten for other reasons. Regardless, I like to offer things in my home that anyone can enjoy, and with the array of flavors and products from Chex, I can easily make this whole family favorite holiday gathering recipe safe for all of us, with just a few simple ingredient swaps. As for the leftover ingredients? Yummy snacks to munch on for me!
