Sandwiches are beautiful, sandwiches are fine, I like sandwiches- I eat them all the time! I eat them for my supper and I eat them for my lunch! If I had a hundred sandwiches I’d eat them all at once…
I’ll give you a {virtual} nickel if you can tell me who sings that song! It’s fall, and therefore, sandwich season in my house. We’re all about the sandwich lately. What’s not to love about a sandwich? Your whole meal can be between two slices of bread- I’m a toasted bread girl, but maybe you are into non-toasted. It’s all good. Sandwiches are meant to be enjoyed how you like them best. One must-have on my sandwiches is Deli American. I love deli cheese, and have since I was pregnant with kid #2, but there’s just *something* about Deli American and the way it melts so smoothly, so evenly…and just brings all of the flavors from the ingredients of my sandwiches together to make a whole song in my mouth.
Don’t forget to check out our French Onion Chicken Sandwiches from last week. This one may be a little more appealing to the littler folks in your house (or the pickier eaters). If you can’t get enough of the sandwich love, look at this twist on Sloppy Joes and Grilled Cheese!
Ham, Bacon & Roasted Apple Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients:
Directions:
Prep: Cook bacon ahead of time, set aside
- Butter 2 slices of good quality white bread.
- In a large skillet over medium heat place sliced bread buttered side down. Add a single slice of Deli American, add 3-4 slices of bacon, add apples, ham and another slice of Deli American. Add another slice of buttered bread butter side up. When bottom piece of bread is toasted flip sandwich over carefully. (I love to use my cast iron skillet for recipes.)
- When grilled cheese is finished, place it on a plate. When it is cool enough to safely handle, use a serrated knife and cut it in half.
- Serve.
