I need to lose weight and get more active, and of course every year my resolution is to eat healthier and exercise more- just like millions of other Americans. But by mid February January ( let’s be real here) I have fallen off the healthy wagon. I haven’t made realistic resolutions in the past. This year I purposed to make healthier and more realistic resolutions. All joking aside I am planning on making 2016 a great year all around-I need convenience, fun, and attainable goals to make that happen. Here is my game plan…
Making Realistic Resolutions
Make physical activity fun- I am not one to run 10 miles a day…or at all really. Nor will you find me sweating at the gym in a cute workout outfit- Yoga pants are for shopping not actual yoga! I kid! Bu,t I have purposed this year to get more active in the backyard with my kids, or at the park, walks around the neighborhood after dinner, and maybe a fun dance class or two.
Get an accountability partner- Someone to keep you on the straight and narrow. For me that will be my mother in law- she loves to help out with that, AND my sarcastic yet encouraging best friend. Pick someone who will help encourage and keep you on the right path. Even better if they are on the same journey with you.
Keep healthy convenient food options on hand – Fruits, veggies, flavored water, etc… But what about the times that you need more than a snack and there are tons of leftover holiday goodies but none that fit a healthy lifestyle? I have stocked my freezer with lots of yummy options from Healthy Choice like Cafe Steamers and Simply Cafe Steamers. They are the perfect go to and really come to the rescue when you are too tired to cook, out of ideas, or just looking for a delicious healthy option!
You can choose from proteins, low-carb, gluten-free, vegetarian, as well as other options for lunches and dinners. Healthy Choice uses steam to give your meal fantastic texture like crisp vegetables, juicy proteins, and perfectly cooked grains. For me eating healthier means including whole grains, extra veggies, and lean proteins- Cafe has me covered on all counts!
The first one I tried was Meatball Marinara and it was so yummy! Tender whole grain penne pasta, flavorful 100% natural meatballs, and delicious zesty marinara sauce loaded with spinach- great to know that a dinner that is so good is still good for you! I love the fact that I don’t have to worry about it when there are 100 other things going on I don’t need to rely on a run through the fast food line, or scarfing down last night’s leftovers. There is a tasty and healthy meal waiting for me in the freezer anytime I need it!
I would love to hear about your realistic resolutions for this upcoming year! Share them with me.

I am ALL about keeping healthy options like that in the freezer. I have a hard time in the middle of the day while I’m working. THis year, my biggest goal is to work on mental health – I’m not so concerned with numbers, but I would love to be happy and active and healthy in general.
