I was provided a free trial program by Jenny Craig that included being compensated with enrollment in the program, consultations, as well as food for the duration of the program. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I’ve been on Jenny Craig for 12 weeks now. In that 12 weeks, I’ve lost 29 lbs*. Yep, 29. Twenty-nine. It’s kind of a big deal for me. It’s a significant change and while I don’t seem to look different, I FEEL different. Which is what matters to me most.
*Results not typical. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs. per week.
I’m moving more, and breathing heavy less. I’m choosing to move more, and yes, in part thanks to playing Pokemon Go with the kids- but that’s a win-win. We all get more exercise and more together time. Even the dog! It’s just easier all around to be IN my body. Getting up, moving around, reaching for things, going up or down stairs, playing with the kids- things I was avoiding just a few months ago I’m starting to just do. The simple fact that I’m putting sneakers on regularly so I can walk a little bit more is a big win…so that alone is a success. I was horrified a few months ago because just putting on my shoes had gotten me huffing and puffing… never mind doing any kind of movement.
I’ve lost inches. INCHES off of my body*. While we only did measurements for my bust, waist and hips at the start, after week four and after week 8, I have lost 2 inches off my bust, 2 inches off my waist, and 2 1/2 inches off my hips. Most of my shorts I can pull off without unzipping. Some of my shorts I should probably stop wearing but I don’t plan to be THIS particular size by shorts weather in 2017 so I’m just sticking it out until fall weather arrives. There are worse troubles to have, like shorts being too small!!

THE BIG QUESTION: So, is the Jenny Craig food and program worth it?
I’m giving an emphatic HECK YES! (I might say another phrase, but I’m a PG blog). Most of the food is really quite good. A few things are not my favorites, but really, who likes EVERYTHING that’s offered on any menu? That’s why there are a varietiy of things to choose from. BUT– the meals were good, I haven’t felt hungry all the time, and I have found that even when I’m in situations where I don’t have a meal with me or whatever, I’m making healthier choices and portion sizes that are in line with healthy living. Which is the goal, after all. Even when I have an ‘off’ meal, I’m ok getting back on track!
Science agrees with me — Jenny Craig works. According to a Johns Hopkins weight loss study, Jenny Craig was identified as one of the most effective weight loss programs based on scientific evidence that its participants achieved greater weight loss at 1 year, compared to control groups.
Jenny Craig has retaught me portions and with the Fresh & Free Additions that I can choose to include with my snacks and meals. I am eating all of the foods I like and flavors I love without overindulging…which, let’s be honest, is how I got into this situation in the first place. I love fresh fruits and veggies in summer- we have a big garden and so many farm stands around so there are tons of options!
I have to be honest- I’m quite shocked it’s been 3 months already. I kind of wondered if three months would feel like a long time, being on a program with prepackaged foods. It’s been a pleasant surprise just how quickly this has flown by- and I am feeling sad that the blog campaign is coming to an end but I am determined to continue working towards my goals. And now, if you’ll excuse me, the kids want to go on a Pokemon hunt on the bike trail…again. For the second time today!
So what’s next? Well, next week there will be some fun new additions to the 100+ items already available with Jenny Craig. I’ll be weighing in Monday with the same outfit on that I started my journey wearing… so stay tuned for that photo. I’ll share a before, during and after the three months side by side. I’ll also be working “regular” meals into my week along with the program meals so I can kind of ease my way into non-program foods. I’ll just pay a lot of attention to portion sizes and the foods I’m choosing to eat.
