When I was a teenager one of my first, and favorite jobs was as a SUBWAY Sandwich Artist. I loved working at SUBWAY and have so many wonderful memories from that time in my life. I still love SUBWAY® restaurants today and am so happy to hear of their partnership with the American Heart Association. SUBWAY teamed up with the AHA in 2016 to launch the +color initiative, an initiative that focuses on the positive impact of fruits and vegetables. This initiative encourages Americans to add more fruits and vegetables to their diet and is committed to helping us all better understand the critical health benefits this change can mean. #addcolor
Add More Fruits and Vegetables with Subway +Color
Heart disease has had a significant impact on our family. Knowing that something as simple as adding more fruits and vegetables to our diet can mean less risk for stroke, certain types of cancer and risk of death from all causes is huge. Adding just an extra cup of color to your diet each day can improve your health. I know I’m pretty strict about making sure there are plenty of fruits and veggies in the lunches I pack for my children and even in what they have for breakfast or dinner. I’ve gotten bad about making sure there is enough fruits and veggies in my meal plan though.
SUBWAY makes it easy to add a cup of color to your daily routine without too much thought. They offer 10 varieties of vegetables, from cucumbers to spinach to green peppers and just about everything in between. I know that over the last couple of months, those holiday months, my healthy eating has taken a back seat. I’ve been filling up on not so healthy choices and now that we are halfway through the first month of this new year, I know I need to get serious about eating better and filling up on colorful fruits and vegetables is something I’m committed to, a New Year’s Resolution of sorts.
Our little town has a SUBWAY restaurant. It’s actually one of the only restaurants in our town. It makes it an easy choice for grabbing a lunch on the go or dinner for the family on a busy night of ball games and other after school activities.
SUBWAY has millions of handcrafted sandwich combinations to create your own custom sandwich or salad. These sandwiches or salads can offer up at least two extra servings of vegetables to your diet. That is over 40% of the American Heart Association’s daily recommendation. I’ve always loved the fresh veggies from SUBWAY and loading up my favorite sandwich with them means a sandwich that is filling and delicious. It also means I’m making a good choice for my health and for those I’m feeding.
I’m sure many of you are like me and let your healthy eating slip over the holidays so why not take this opportunity to make +color, this simple initiative, part of your New Year’s Resolutions?
Do you have a favorite sandwich combination at SUBWAY? Make it even better and better for your health by adding more color to it with extra fruits and vegetables.

I love Subway hoagies. I recently have been more aware of adding veggies and less dressings. My next step is to eat more wheat bread!

I love Subway sandwiches. I haven’t had one in a long time. Subway is a great place to eat if you are trying to lose weight too. As long as you don’t add a bunch of heavy condiments like mayo, vinegar/oil, ect.

I sure miss Subway’s bread. Now that I am gluten free, I can’t have it! It was the best bread ever! If only I could eat it without being sick!

We are huge advocates in support of enjoying heart healthy meals. We are also huge supporters of the American Heart Association after my father passed away of a massive heart attack at the age of 49. Simple changes, adding good foods, and keeping an eye on our diet can have an amazing impact on our lives. Kudos to Subway for this partnership!
