This is a sponsored spicy crab appetizer post; while the views expressed here were genuinely mine, consideration was paid to me by Bays English Muffins to review this product and share this recipe.
I have always had a love of English Muffins, I think because my grandma always had them in her fridge. Visiting Grandma meant lots of fun card games, silly sweets and English Muffin pizzas for lunch.
You may have spent most of your life thinking that English muffins are a breakfast food, and yes, we do enjoy them at breakfast, but there’s a whole lot of ways you can enjoy these fresh English muffins at any time of day!
Today we’re going to share with you a twist on one of my extended family’s FAVORITE appetizer. It’s a must for us to have crab appetizers as frequently as possible when we gather, especially throughout the holidays. Made with Sourdough Bays English Muffins, these are a crowd pleaser!
Spicy Crab Appetizer on Bays English Muffins
Ingredients
1 package crab meat 8 oz.
1 package Bays English Muffins (We REALLY love the Sourdough variety for these, although the Original work just as well)
8 slices of gouda cheese
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp all purpose seafood seasoning
1 tbsp mayonnaise
Directions
1. In a mixing bowl, add the crab meat, seafood seasoning, garlic powder, and mayo. Mix well.
2. Split the English muffins open and lay each half face side up on a cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
3. Place a quarter slice of gouda on the English muffin. Top the cheese with the crab spread. Optional: Finish by adding additional cheese on top of the spread.
4. Place in the oven at 425 for 7-10 minutes or until the top of each is golden brown.
5. Serve warm as an appetizer or even enjoy as a light dinner with a soup or salad!
Bays chefs have come up with so many creative recipes for appetizers, pizzas (this is a lifelong favorite of mine on weekends for lunch, or snow days!), burgers, garlic bread, sandwiches and more. Their Savory Cheese Appetizers inspired us to take a new look at a family favorite and see how we could kick things up a notch just in time for the holiday season!
Head over to the Bays English Muffins website to find out what where you can find Bays local to you and get some recipes to try. Don’t forget to “Like” Bays on Facebook for great recipes, fun English muffin ideas, and so much more!
Once we discovered Bays English Muffins, we were instant converts. The Bays are so fresh and are just a better all around flavor, plus they hold up well no matter how you’re using them in a recipe- so that’s what we look for at the store. You’ll want to head to the dairy section of your grocer, because you’ll only find your Bays there, regardless of your fave variety- they aren’t on the shelves with other breads.

Gouda is a nice change from the cheddar cheese or cream cheese base most people use when making crab dips. My husband and I are seafood lovers and this would definitely be a nice date night appetizer.
