This Boomer Bear Krispy Treats recipe post is in partnership with Paramount Pictures. We got to see a screening of the WONDER PARK movie last night. I’m not sharing spoilers, but I laughed, I cried, laughed more, cried again, and enjoyed myself, as did the kids! A fun surprise for our screening was a panel immediately following the screening hosted by Paramount Pictures and the National Coalition for Girls in STEM- especially since my 9 year old is a very science focused kid and her bestie is too- and she was with us for the movie. Get tickets now to experience the wonder of Wonder Park, in theatres Friday! ?
One of my favorite characters from this film was Boomer, June’s big blue furry pal. He’s goofy, he’s sweet, but he’s also just got this way about him and I couldn’t help but fall in love with him. That’s where the inspiration for these Wonder Park krispy treats came from- a sweet tribute to the big fuzzy blue guy. I suspect you’ll fall in love with him, too, when you see the movie this weekend!
Boomer Bear Krispy Treats
Ingredients
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
15oz marshmallows
3 Tablespoons softened butter
2 cups Light blue candy melts
1 cup caramel candy melts (or mix a 1/4 chocolate in with 3/4 white chocolate)
1 cup milk chocolate candy melts
Large candy eyes
5” and 2” circle cookie cutters
Decorating bags
9×13” baking pan
Non stick cooking spray
Directions
1. Grease a 9×13” baking pan with a non stick cooking spray.
2. In a large microwave safe bowl, combine your marshmallows and butter and heat for 1-2 minutes until the marshmallows get puffy and the butter is melted.
3. Now mix in your Rice Krispies cereal.
4. Scoop into your pan, press down firmly, and freeze for 15 minutes.
5. Use a large circle cookie cutter to cut out 6 circle but leave a little space in between each one.
6. Then use the smaller circle to cut out 3/4 of a circle by cutting on the edge of the cut out circle so you get that crescent shape that will match up with the larger circle.
7. Place two small circles against the side of the Rice Krispies to look like the bear’s ears. 8. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the blue candy melts on 50% power for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and pour into a decorating bag.
9. Frost you bears and carefully transfer them to the freezer for 5 minutes.
10. In two other small microwave safe bowls, heat your milk chocolate and caramel candy melts on 50% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and pour each into a separate decorating bag.
11. Use the caramel bag to attach the eyes and to draw on the area behind the nose and the inner ears.
12. Place in the freezer again to harden that area.
13. Use the milk chocolate bag to draw on a nose and a mouth.
14. Let sit to harden and enjoy! (These will keep in an airtight container for up to one week)
