Looking for quick and easy dinner ideas? I *always* am. Always. Sometimes we make complicated recipes or ones that take a while- but most of the time? We’re doing simple. Quick. Especially now with the world opening back up again, life is getting busier again and I’ve got kids going in three directions sometimes simultaneously! This pork chop apple skillet fits the bill- serve with a tossed salad and voila, an easy dinner the whole family will like. You can do bone in or boneless chops- I think we may also try this with cider instead of just water next time we make them for a little variety. Apple and pork go so well together!
Pork Chop Apple Skillet
Ingredients:
4 pork chops
1-2 apples, thinly sliced
1/4 cup onion, diced
1/4 cup water
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper
Directions:
Cook pork chops in a nonstick skillet on medium heat for about 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove from the pan. You can also use a cast iron skillet for this recipe- it won’t really impact the cooking times, but you WILL add some extra iron to your food. We used to make this in a nonstick all the time, but have been using our cast iron skillets and pans more and more the last year or so!
Add apple, onion and water in the skillet.
Place pork chop on top of the apples and drizzle with vinegar. Season with salt and pepper.
Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 5-8 minutes or until pork is cooked through and apples are tender.
