The Covid-19 pandemic has drastically altered our lives. Because of the lockdown, gyms were closed for nearly two years, and people spent the majority of their time at home. This has resulted in an increase in total body weight for millions of us. Obesity is a serious problem that is becoming more prevalent among the younger generation.
The simplest but biggest tip we have? JUST START. Want to start with water? Start drinking more water than any other beverage…change one drink a day to water if you really need to start small. Want to start exercising? Just start. Even a little bit every other day will make a difference over time. But the more you do these things, the more they become habit. Want to start eating healthier? Just start. Have a salad with that burger. You don’t have to change everything you do and eat overnight!! JUST START! Today can be day one or today can be “one day” and only you can control that mindset.

Simple Tips to Lose Weight
Read This First
You should understand that losing weight is more than just exercising or dieting. You must exercise caution in both situations. First and foremost, you must understand what causes weight gain. When you consume more calories than you need in a day, the excess calories are converted into fat, accumulating around your waist and legs.
If you stop eating, you will lose fat, but you will also lose muscle due to weakness, and you will be unhealthy and unfit. To lose weight properly, you must increase your protein intake, decrease your sugar and fat intake, and include cardio exercises.
Protein in your diet will build muscles, which will replace fat and leave you healthy and fit. Remember, protein is essential because your whole body tissues, organs, and organ systems comprise proteins.
Health is primarily determined by your eating habits. You must create a proper diet plan that includes all necessary compounds, vitamins, elements, and energy to keep your body functioning properly, as well as engage in some form of exercise to burn some extra calories and lose fat.
If this sounds like it will be difficult, don’t worry – there’s plenty of help out there, including the assistance of a weight loss clinic if you need some extra advice.
How Does the Fat Burn?
You have probably heard about cardio exercises and how they can help you lose weight. What happens during cardio exercises is that you work out continuously without stopping, which keeps your heart pumping, until your body can no longer convert glucose into energy to meet the demand. At this point, the body begins to burn fat because it is a quick source of energy and helps you lose weight. Fat will be burned in the last 5 to 8 minutes of a 30-minute cardio session.
This is why, even after crushing heavy workouts, most people remain the same because they fail to cross the energy supply-demand barrier to burn fat.
Here are a few tips to lose weight without compromising your health.
Proper Diet Plan
A nutrient-dense diet includes foods from all major food groups, such as high-protein meals, whole grains, healthy fats, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Calories are derived from the nutrients in your food, which are primarily carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. Minerals and vitamins are also important nutrients to include in your diet to keep your body healthy.
If you want to reap the most health benefits, you must achieve the proper balance of these numerous nutrients.
Cycling
Biking is considered a cardio activity. Deep breathing and increased heart rate are part of the aerobic workout. Under these conditions, our body temperature reaches a point where it ceases to use conventional carbs as an energy source and begins to burn fat to meet our energy needs.
These workouts are the most effective at burning fat and increasing stamina. Biking also engages our legs, which are one of the primary, if not the largest, muscles in the body, making it a high-intensity fat-burning activity.
DIY Projects
People have been confined to a chair in front of a computer for long periods of time, with little opportunity for physical activity. DIY projects can be an excellent way to get your body moving, be productive and have some fun (hopefully) along the way. We have been doing lots of gardening and even did some DIY planter boxes so we can enjoy more pretty flowers on the deck- and keeping the bugs away at the same time.
Social Media
We’re all ON social media, so why not use it to our advantage? I watch TikTok videos while I am on the elliptical. I’ve also discovered a lot of easy exercise routines that require no equipment, and some are just one minute long. A thirty-minute cardio workout can seem daunting when you’re getting started- but ONE minute? That seems like something most of us can do, no matter what shape we are in!
Also, if you’re competitive, even with yourself, look for a fitness tracker. I cannot stand leaving the rings on my Apple watch unclosed. I’ve closed all 3 for almost 150 days in a row now- and I’ve significantly increased each of my goals along the way! But any tracker- if you’re goal-oriented- is a great way to help remind and encourage you to meet that goal. Pro tip: start with smaller goals. You can adjust them over time, but you’ll be successful along the way.
Final Thoughts
Losing weight does not happen overnight. It is a shift in your lifestyle, eating habits, and social circle. If you want to lose weight quickly, I don’t know what to say except I wish you good luck. Making lifestyle and eating habit changes takes time, and for many of us, lots of time because we’re undoing habits we’ve had for years, and that takes time. That’s why we say just start. And it’s ok to just start with one change at a time. Those little changes will start to add up!!
Losing weight is difficult but not impossible; it will provide a sense of self-care while strengthening you. People who devote time to physical fitness appear happier and more active than those who do not. You have a choice; your body is yours, and your life is yours. Think carefully!
