I’m guessing if you’re reading this, you’re needing fun elf on the shelf ideas OR you have an elf and your kids started playing Among Us and you took a shot at searching to see if anyone else’s kids were obsessed with the game and maybe thought about doing something funny for the elves and Among Us.

Anyway. If your kids like Among Us, or maybe you do, I am not judging, it’s brought some peace and quiet several times when I need the houes sort of quiet to get some work done…plus the conversations you overhear while they play are sort of hilarious. To me, anyway. But you’re here, and I’m here, so now I’m going to show you what my friend Kari made me for some elfin around fun and we’ll show you how to get this cut, assembled and styled to wow the kids. If you have more than one elf, I absolutely suggest making a few colors of the costume. Or do a few costumes, in a few colors, and have an elaborate multi day elf-capade and have different dioramas set up like the game. Have fun with it. It’s Christmas 2020, why not?!
OH!! You will also notice we did 2 different sized costumes in the pattern, because we know not everyone has the offical elf on the shelf, and maybe you still want to have fun printables and stuff for your elves (which alternative to the elf on the shelf do you have?)! This one will even fit Christopher PopinKins (or it would work as an outfit for Christina PopinKins too). Maybe your elf will leave some Among Us stickers behind when s/he goes back to the North Pole at night!
Elf on the Shelf Among Us Costume
Materials:
1 piece of green felt (or any of the colors you want to use to make your costume. Among Us seems to have a big array of color characters so have fun with this choice)
1 small piece of grey felt
1 small piece of white felt
yarn or string
hot glue and hot glue gun
scissors
marker or pencil
Directions:
Use scissors to cut the paper pattern out. Place the pattern on the green felt and trace with a marker or pencil.
Cut out the felt.
Place the felt costume face down on a flat surface and lay the elf face down as well. Mark close to the body with a pencil.
Remove the elf and use hot glue to attach a string to each side of the costume. Let set to dry.
Trace the center face opening on grey felt and cut 1/8″ around the pattern line so it’s larger than the pattern.
Cut a small piece of white felt in an oval and affix to the top right corner of the grey felt.
Slice the grey felt in thirds to create an eye opening or eye hole for the elf to see. Affix the felt to the front of the costume with hot glue.
Tie the costume around the elf’s body and display.
Looking for more elf fun? Send them to jail! Or a dunk tank. Maybe your elves are tired and need a good massage? 2020 has been tough! You could also just make some elf sized cookies one day, too, especially if you put your elf in quarantine to kick off your 2020 elf shenanigans!
