I have been using VSL#3 for about a year now as you can see in my original post and my update from a few months back. Up until now I have been taking 2 capsules a day but I recently received the VSL#3 unflavored packets to try and love how easily they mix into my water or any other cold, non-carbonated beverage. Dealing with IBS is no picnic; sometimes it is a constant struggle to avoid food landmines. Drinking plenty of water and taking my VSL#3 every day has made a definite difference in my gut health- Small slip-ups with trigger foods do not seem as severe as they once were.
This quick and easy “recipe” is one of my favorite ways to get my water in every day, I simply altered my traditional ingredients by adding in a VSL#3 unflavored packet to my usual ingredients. The light hint of citrus and rosemary flavors make drinking water enjoyable instead of being a chore. But it doesn’t just taste delicious -Rosemary is known to be great for digestion, bloating and detoxifying. Orange also promotes digestion.
Citrus Rosemary Water-
Combine 2 cups water, 1 slice of orange, a small sprig of Rosemary, 1 teaspoon of honey , and 1 VSL#3 unflavored packet in a large shaker bottle and ( I got this one from VSL#3 and it really helps combine my flavors well) shake to combine well.
Pour over ice, add your orange slice and rosemary to your glass if you like to add more flavor.
Sip and enjoy!
The packets contain 450 billion bacteria per packet and have been clinically demonstrated to reduce bloating/gassiness and discomfort in patients with IBS. VSL#3 also recently removed any trace of dairy from the products, making it one of the few dairy-free products available for IBS and UC sufferers who may also be lactose intolerant/dairy sensitive – I am one of those myself!
