I remember my college days as some of the best years of my life. I loved venturing out on my own, discovering a new sense of independence and meeting new people. But I went to school far away from home, and I admit – there were times that I felt a little homesick. (This is Lolli, from Better in Bulk, guest posting again about her oldest daughter and sending her a college survival kit care package!)
Those memories from my old college days have been on my mind regularly for the last year as my oldest daughter has started out on her own…at a college thousands of miles away from home. Last year was a fantastic year for her. She loved her classes and met some amazing new friends. She joined a sorority and got involved in leadership roles on campus. But her first year away from home was not without its challenges.
Now that she’s starting her second year of college (classes just began earlier this week!), I figured it was the perfect time to send her a little college survival kit care package from home to help start her second year on the right foot.
What to Include in a College Survival Kit Care Package
I had a blast putting together a care package that was full of things that I knew my daughter could use, along with a few things just for fun. This is what I included in her care package:
A package of Women’s Schick® Hydro Silk® Disposable Razors (because I know that feeling confident is crucial for her success at school. I want her to feel great about herself, and I know that her choice in shaving products has a huge impact on how she looks and feels)
Lots and lots of Band-Aids and some antibiotic ointment (because we all fall down sometimes. I want her to remember that we’re here to pick her back up again when she falls)
Airborne immune support supplement (because she’s living with 26 other girls and sharing a kitchen and a bathroom. Germs will inevitably be going around. I want to make sure that she’s ready to fight those nasty bugs and stay on top of school and work…and her social life)
Her favorite hair product (because that was something she mentioned that she was out of!)
Kettle corn (because I know that kettle corn is one of her favorite low-guilt treats….and we all deserve a little treat after a long day of classes or work)
Laundry stain remover (because laundry is a big deal when you’re living on your own)
A notepad with a home team on it (for shopping lists and quick notes…and so she can think of home often)
Other items to include in a college survival kit:
A favorite candy
Toiletries
Shaving cream
A magazine or two
Notes from the family
What items would you have enjoyed receiving in a care package while you were at college?
