If you often travel as a family, day trips to museums are probably something you avoid. Most kids just can’t get behind trailing around old artifacts or pieces of art. But, what if we were to tell you that there is a city out there which could get your kids as excited about museums as you are?
Atlanta is home to a surprising number of museums that are sure to go down well with your entire family. While you might not be able to head to the city’s many historical museums without complaint, you could at least get your kids to fall in love with a different kind of museum when you make time for the following must-sees during your stay. This is a contributed post.
#1 – World of Coca Cola
Booking a central hotel room in Atlanta means you’ll be no more than a ten-minute drive from World of Coca-Cola, an iconic exhibit that’s conveniently located right next to Georgia Aquarium.
Even reluctant young visitors are sure to have fun as they dive into attractions like an immersive beverage lab, where it’s possible to taste over 100 different cola flavors. There’s also a Coca-Cola theater, a top-secret vault where you can learn all about Coca-Cola’s secret recipe, and a photo op with the Coca-Cola polar bear.
At the end of it all, families can head to the Coca-Cola store, where kids can stock up on personalized branded goodies that will remind them how much they love museums forevermore.
# 2- Lego Discovery Center
Kids of all ages are sure to get stuck into museum life at Atlanta’s Lego Discovery Center, where they can enjoy everything from a Duplo Park for under 5s to a 4D cinema experience with its own weather system. There’s even a Miniland of Lego that uses more than 1.5 million bricks in total!
During a visit here, families can meet, greet, and talk with master Lego builders in regular workshops, and snap photos with their favorite Lego characters. In short, this is the perfect itinerary addition, which offers an in-depth look at Lego’s inner workings, as well as plenty of fun and play for even the youngest visitors.
# 3 – Center for Puppetry Arts
You could also spend a little time at the Center for Puppetry Arts during your Atlanta stay. Like the other options mentioned, this magical center blends learning with fun across exhibits that span the history of puppetry as we know it, alongside fun additions that include in-person puppet shows and workshops.
Within the museum’s Jim Henson collection, families can currently meet crowd favorites like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, meaning there’s no risk of complaints of boredom as you walk around. The museum also hosts regular seasonal events that include festive shows and crafting workshops, so make sure to check what’s on and book up before you go!
Are your kids suddenly going to love museums after a trip to Atlanta? Maybe not, but they’ll certainly be more willing to give them a go after trying out these fun options!
