For many of us, the winter months are a time of rest. It seems once school starts, we are heading toward the holidays at full speed. Instead of working out at the gym, we are cooking huge meals, visiting with friends, hosting parties and pretty much over indulging in many areas. If you are like most folks, you may pack on a few unwanted pounds during that time. No wonder people make those New Year’s resolutions!
With spring upon us, here are a few ways you can get your body ready for spring:
Food: Put away those casserole dishes and get to the farmer’s market! This is a great time of year to get fresh fruits and vegetables your body has been craving.
Beverages: Water, water, water and more water! Get rid of the soda, fruit juices and other sugary drinks and trade them for good old H20.
Exercise: It is time to stretch your limbs and get them moving. Start out by simply walking. You will be amazed at how great you feel after a walk around the block.
Vitamins: Our bodies need vitamins and minerals and we don’t always get those from the food we eat. To stay healthy in the spring, you need to be on a vitamin routine.
Vitamins help our body work the way they should. If we don’t take them, our bodies can begin to break down. For my spring health routine, I take several vitamins that give me healthy hair, nails, skin, internal organs and eyes. For healthy skin and a strong immune system, I take Vitamin A while Vitamin D keeps my teeth, bones and nails nice and strong. Vitamin C is a must have to fight those spring colds I tend to get.
So, where should you go to get all your vitamins, supplements and minerals you need for your healthy body? I go to my trusted Walgreens. Not only do they have a huge selection of all the products I need, they have a staff on hand to answer all of my questions.
When shopping for vitamins, you might find it useful to know that you can help a child in need with every vitamins or supplements purchase at Walgreens. Millions of children around the world are suffering from ‘hidden hunger’, a lack of micronutrients that can lead to disease and even death. In fact, 45% of all childhood deaths are attributable to under-nutrition. Walgreens is giving a portion of all vitamin retail sales to Vitamin Angels to help 100 million children in the U.S. and abroad get the vitamins they need to live well.

I’m more spring ready this year than I was this same time last year. I’ve lost 33 pounds since Dec. and I’m getting healthy. Still have about 10 more pounds to be summer ready. 🙂 I’m not the best at remembering to take vitamins on a regular basis, but I shop at Walgreens all the time.

The weather has been so nice, it’d be a crime not to get outdoors and enjoy it. Walking has been a great start for being ready for spring/summer.
