As homeowners, we all like to focus on the inside of our homes. We paint, redecorate, and make upgrades nearly every year, however, most homeowners tend to only tidy up the outside of their home rather than paying attention to it. The outside of your home is not only the shell and protector of the inside it is also the first impression that people see when they drive past or come to your door. This means that you need to make sure you are looking after it too. This is a contributed post

If you are unsure of what you need ot do to look after the outside of your home, let’s have a look at some of the areas you should focus on.
Your Garden
Most people will do a little bit of work in their garden, however, a lot of those people will likely hold their hands up and admit that all they do is make it tolerable to sit in during the summer months. Unfortunately, your garden requires a little more attention than just a quick today and clear-up. Yes, this is part of it but if you want your garden to be manageable and well looked after there are a few things you need to get done:
- Treating the wood in the garden like the fences and gates
- Replacing any fences that have fallen or are damaged
- Clearing weeds and debris
- Trimming hedges and trees to keep them manageable
- Replacing or repairing any walkways
- Adding lighting to make sure the garden is safe when it gets dark
- Replace, repair, and clean any slabs on a patio
- And more
Your Roof
This is another big one that gets missed off the list of things to do. When was the last time you looked at your roof and assessed the condition? If you can’t remember or you have never looked at your roof properly then it’s time to do it now. If there are any issues and they have been left it could spell disaster for the future. Your roof protects your home and is one of the most vital parts that helps you stay away from leaks and dampness. Stand back from your roof and see if you can see any signs of wear and tear. Are any tiles missing or loose? Are there any sins of dampness? Is your roof older than 25 years? If you answer is yes to any of these then you may need to get a professional roofing company, Presidential Exteriors to come and take a closer look. You could also arrange an inspection of your roof if you aren’t able to do it yourself.
Top tip: If you have an attic space, get yourself in there and have a look at your roof from the inside. If there are any leaks or issues with dampness it should be easy to spot from this side. Also, if thereany nay signs of birds or pests you will be able to see it clearly from here.
Your Garage
Unless you have organized your garage recently it’s highly possible that your garage is full to the brim with rubbish and things that you need to sort out. If this is the case then you are going to need to sort it out. Not only will it help to clear your mind but it will help to get rid of clutter that you just don’t need anymore. Once you have sorted through your garage you can look to see if there is any need for any repairs to the flooring or the walls and doors. Once it is all clear and repaired you can start to add storage. You will be thankful to have the storage space back and it will help you to keep other areas of your home clear of clutter too. You may even have space to park your car. If you are going to park your car in the garage make sure the door is working properly. You may want to think about updating it and making it automatic.
Your Front Door And Windows
These are both noticed by people who visit your house and just pass your house. Windows and doors should last up to 15 years if looked after properly. They are important not only for a good curb appeal but also for keeping your home dry and draft-free. If they aren’t doing their job it may be time to think about having them replaced.
If you make these four improvements to the outside of your home you will soon have a house that looks great and inviting. Do you have any other projects that would help? Please share them in the comments below.
