We all have to deal with the signs of aging at some point and, for the majority of us, that’s going to involve taking a good long look at the wrinkles and fine likes that start to become more apparent, especially on our hands and face. However, you don’t necessarily have to turn immediately to surgical treatments to quell those fine lines. Here are ways of dealing with them that are a little less invasive.
Getting rid of fine lines…without a knife
Good nutrition
You are what you eat, right down to every individual cell of skin on your whole body. As with every other part of you, your skin can be boosted and rejuvenated with the right nutrition. As such, take a look at some of the ingredients that are best at improving the health of your skin. Incorporate foods like grapeseed oil, vitamin C, and green tea into your diet more often.
Chemical peels
While not used solely to treat wrinkles, these peels do have the ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Effectively they do this by stripping the top layers of old, dead skin cells to reveal the fresher and healthier skin beneath, using a carefully made mix of acids that don’t do harm to the healthy skin cells beneath. The newer smoother looking skin will have a reduced appearance of all skin issues, not just wrinkles.
Microdermabrasion
One treatment that has become signficantly more popular as of yet is microdermabrasion. As the name suggests, it involves using needle rollers to do very minimal amounts of damage to the very surface level of skin. A microdermabrasion facial can get your skin’s healing factor to kick in. When it does, the newly fresh layer of skin can help drastically reduce the appearance of wrinkles and even make fine lines disappear.
Botox
One of the most frequently requested skin treatments, and one of the two injected substances often used to fight wrinkles. Botox shots, or botulinum toxin therapy, involves injecting a neurotoxin into the muscles that are connected to parts of our face showing wrinkles. It freezes those muscles, so that the fine lines associated with facial activity, such as crow’s feet and smile lines, are given the time to heal while making sure you don’t exacerbate them.
Dermal fillers
The other of the two popular cosmetic injectables when it comes to treating wrinkles. If botox shots deal with “lines of activity,” then dermal fillers tackle the “lines of rest,” instead. As the name implies, they fill beneath the areas where skin is sagging somewhat, giving it the volume to look a lot firmer and much more youthful. Many dermal fillers also contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which can do a great deal in giving your skin the nutrition it needs to stay youthful for longer.
There’s no denying that cosmetic surgery can be effective when it comes to dealing with wrinkles and fine lines. However, the steps mentioned above can be just as powerful, so it’s worth taking a closer look at the very least.
