The traditional flavor of gingerbread combined with a classic favorite-rice krispie treats makes for a unique and delicious goody to add to your Christmas baking list. They will become a favorite of kids and kids at heart as well between the spicy seasonal flavor and the cute little shape. Leave them just as they are simple but flavorful or get creative and add a few features with a gel writing tube.
Gingerbread Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients:
Rice Krispies cereal
6 cups mini marshmallows
4 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp.cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
Grease a 9×13 pan well.
In a large saucepan over medium heat melt butter completely.
Stir in marshmallows and spices, continue cooking until fully dissolved.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and rice krispies- stir quickly and thoroughly to combine.
Press into pan firmly.
Allow to set at least 20 minutes then press out gingerbread shapes with cookie cutter that has been coated with nonstick spray or rubbed with oil.
Layer with parchment or wax paper in an airtight container or wrap individually with plastic wrap to hand out.
