It’s a little weird that Easter’s falling on April Fool’s Day this year. I suppose it’s happened before, but it’s also making a lot of parents think a little bit about how to add some egg-citement into the egg hunts that seem to come along with Easter celebrations. Our friends at Spin Master reached out and asked if we’d be willing to have a little egg hunt fun with their Hatchimals CollEGGtibles and share with you all, and that inspired me to get a little more creative than normal for basket finding. They sponsored this post, and our fun pre-holiday scavenger hunt!
Most of the time, we end up at 2-3 egg hunts each year. Years ago, when the kids were itty bitty, I would host a big egg hunt at our house for the MOMS Club, post holiday, so everyone would be able to stock up on goodies at clearance prices and the kids could hunt for a good long while. But with Easter falling on a fun day like April 1st, I felt like it was time for something new.
Hatchimals Colleggtibles Easter Egg Hunt
I asked my friend Amy helped to bring my vision for a fun Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Scavenger Hunt to life. I told her my ideas, and sent her my list of clues- and asked her for two different sets for a hunt. Lots of our friends who love Hatchimals CollEGGtibles aren’t always reading just yet, so I wanted to be sure that even the littlest Hatchimals fans could participate in the fun. So you’ll find two filled in sets in this post, but also a blank one, in case you decide to head outdoors or just want to make your own clues. We opted to create this Hatchimals themed hunt specifically that it might work regardless of where you live- simple things like doors, windows, eggs in the fridge, a book, etc. so that it really can be a print, cut and have fun experience! I love doing hunts outside but with our yard being under up to 2 feet of snow in spots and a whole lot of mud where there isn’t snow…it seemed to make more sense to focus on an indoor hunt.
But first, what are Hatchimals CollEGGtibles?
Hatchimals CollEGGtibles are adorable collectible Hatchimals that come inside small, speckled eggs. Each Hatchimals CollEGGtible needs your help to hatch! Hold the egg in your hands, rub the heart and when it changes from purple to pink, it’s ready to hatch! Press on the egg to crack it and discover which Hatchimal CollEGGtible is inside. Based on the colored speckled egg you can tell which family your Hatchimal belongs to before they hatch.

Pretty simple, right? Two of the kids we know who get all excited just hearing the word Hatchi— come out of someone’s mouth are pre-readers, so written clues wouldn’t be quite so fun for them. This allows them to look for the clues with less help from someone older, and gives them a big sense of accomplishment!
For the kids who find all things Hatchimals to be quite eggcellent, and who are also reading already, we did the same clues- but more challenging because they have to solve a riddle to find the next clue. You can download right here or click the image below to get to the download page.

She was one happy little girl when she discovered the Hatchimals EGGstravaganza that awaited her after the hunt! Be it known now that the 8 year old beat her 10 year old brother and finished the hunt faster than he did…he insisted on trying it himself after hearing how much fun she had!
Now, you can do this totally different than we did. You can open some of those packages and put a little Hatchimals CollEGGtibles where each clue is found- it kind of all depends on what you want to do and how your child will do with the hunt. A little reward along the way or a built up anticipation- either way, it’s a whole lot of eggcitement!
We happen to have a very nosy doggo who also has a habit of trying to eat small toys, and with something as precious as the adorable Hatchimals everything is, we can’t risk her eating them. Also, our cat, like many, enjoys bathing in sunlight and knocking things off of surfaces so super cute little eggs holding these adorable little friends would be sent flying into the dog’s waiting mouth. So for us, all of the eggs were kept in the basket!
One of the things I adore about the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles, aside from the ABSOLUTE super cuteness of each little friend, is that there is a price point to suit any budget. From little 2 packs to larger playsets, and many options in between, you can find something to surprise your CollEGGtor with! Target has a lot of options beyond the “basic” CollEGGtibles cartons-from Secret Scene Playsets to a Spring Basket already made up for you that comes with 6 CollEGGtibles included-they’ve got something just for your somebunny special. (Not just for Easter- that’s a wonderful birthday surprise for a Spring birthday gift!). I love nothing more than finding the hottest toys at affordable pricing- and I hear all about these little Hatchimals friends wherever I go from kids of all ages. I personally would love to have the little glittery narwhal friend on my desk or look at the winking little panda bear! Yes, I am 43 and yes, I love these little collectible toys for kids. Cracking an egg and finding a surprise friend inside is a thrill in and of itself!
Surprise your Hatchimals fan with a fun twist on the traditional egg hunt this year and print this Easter Egg Hunt with Hatchimals CollEGGtibles for them- who knows, maybe the scavenger hunt egg hunt will become a new tradition!?

Hatchimals are so cute! I am obsessed. My kids would still get a kick out of these I think. Great and fun ideas here. Thanks! My daughter told me that April 1st and April Fool’s Day and Easter are the same time this year and I didn’t really believe her. I guess I should have listened to her. Clearly she’d got a plan for April Fool’s Day that I am not aware of.
