Do you know I used to LOVE Hot Pockets? They were definitely a favorite snack in high school. As I’ve gotten older I’ve gotten away from eating them, but I think the kids would love to be able to bring them for lunch and stuff. I just want to control what goes into them and how much, so I’d prefer to make my own… it’s also more cost effective that way. So today we’re sharing a hot pockets recipe you can do at home in just a short bit of time!
Homemade Hot Pockets
Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
1 bunch of green onions, chopped
4 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
1/3 C. cream cheese
1 tbs. ketchup
1 tsp. mustard
1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
2 cans of crescent rolls
shredded cheese (optional)
Directions
#1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
#2. In a large pan brown the ground beef, bacon and onion until cooked through and then drain the excess grease.
#3. After draining the grease return the pan to the stove and stir in the cream cheese, ketchup, mustard and worcestershire sauce. Allow the cheese to melt through and remove from heat.
#4. While the meat mixture is cooling, open both cans of crescent rolls and unroll them in one large sheet being careful not to rip them at the seams. Once they are unrolled use kitchen scissors or a sharp knife to cut them into 3” squares. Do this will both packages of crescent rolls. You should come up with 18 pieces – 9 tops and 9 bottoms.
#5. Next lay the out the bottom crescent pieces on your baking sheet – mine held 6 per sheet and were about 2” spaced a part.
#6. Scoop 2 tablespoons of the meat mixture onto the crescent bottoms. **Add 1 tablespoon of cheese if you wish.
#7. Once the bottoms all have meat you can place the tops on and press down on the edges forming a meat pie or Hot Pocket.
#8. Bake 13-15 minutes. The crusts will turn golden brown. Serve with ketchup, mustard or even bbq sauce.
**Makes approximately 8-9 servings. 1 pie = 1 serving.
