So the littlest Martin has had a lot of transitions of late. She’s moving up to the “upstairs” of our school, out of the primary wing. She’s made a tough decision to stop competing in gymnastics, instead choosing to play more soccer, more 18 inch dolls, and more time for friends and being home. She’s also really starting to have new tastes in clothes, fashion, accessories and more, and it’s been fun watching her sort of discover herself. She had some tough experiences with classmates and friends last year, and it’s left her feeling not quite so confident. But, we’ve had a good summer, lots of new and fun memories, and we are about to start a new school year. We’re going in with our head’s high and confidence soaring!
Helping tweens feel confident with Justice Girls Clothing
What she’s wearing: Camo Pull On Cargo Pants, a flip sequin lattice sleeve tee, which has “cool sleeves AND flip sequins AND glitter and totally coordinates with the camo pants” and an embellished denim jacket for tweens.
Parents don’t always know best
Gone are the days where I can choose any of my kids’ clothes or outfits, at least on a regular basis. I can buy it, they may wear it, but they do so on their terms, not mine. So that adorable outfit with the coordinating shirt and shorts may well be worn, but never together. I’ve accepted it {grudgingly}, and realized that my days of finding matchy outfits and coordinating stuff are probably gone unless I shop for my grand niece and nephew.
This is a quick silly photo I snapped at her request to send to her Auntie Cindy. Is it a fabulous photo? Nope. But you know what it is? It’s HER. She’s not a perfect hair kid, because she’s generally too busy playing or crafting or building and DOING to sit still and have her hair perfectly done. She’s silly and fun and feels awesome in her cute new lace up hoodie, with a simple cami underneath, and some simple denim shorts. All her faves, all from Justice.
Know what this has taught me? I don’t always know what the best things are for my kids to wear. As long as they follow what our family rules are for their clothes, they can have- and need- to have some freedom in choosing what they wear. AND it’s ok! Even great for them to do so!
What she’s wearing: Camo lace up hoodie, white simple cami (perfect for layers or under cropped tops) and knit waist denim shorts.
I suppose that means both of us have had some transisitions. This year, both older kids will be middle schoolers. The oldest mini Martin is an 8th grader, and will have a promotion ceremony at the end of the school year…and then she’s on to high school. I’m happy to report that while she’s a full blown teenager, she still gets excited when I bring her home a cute shirt from Justice- and I’m equally happy she can still wear the sizes at a kid store! I suppose I’m transitioning to being the mother of middle school kids and an older elementary aged kid, not “little” kids anymore. They need me as much as they always have, but in such different ways!
Justice Girls Clothing In Store Events
Justice has been doing some super fun after-hours events lately! I know they’ve done fashion shows, and some other things, and not only is a great idea to get people in the store after hours- it’s a great way to make kids feel really special. They invited us to have a little shopping spree at their Back to School Pep Rally event held at select Justice stores nationwide to help get girls excited about back-to-school but more importantly, empower them to be themselves and feel confident in their own skin. It was kind of like the perfect event to take the miniest Martin to, and let her have some freedom at a favorite store to choose what she felt confident in. Big sister made plans to spend the night at a friend’s house so we had a little Mommy-Daughter date night.
The 9 year old had an absolute blast shopping. Some of the things she chose I might not have even noticed, but they jumped right out at her. Some things surprised me, some amused me, but all of them made me realize that she’s GOT THIS. She knows what she wants, and she knows what will make her feel confident to wear. Being the youngest of 3, she’s had a whole lot of hand me downs in her time, and hasn’t ever gone shopping for some clothes just for her. This was a big event for her, and we did it up right. Pretzels at the mall, giggles, selfies, a frozen lemonade to sip, and some surprises for friends and big sister.
I think my favorite part of the event was seeing the kids and their adults shopping and participating in the crafts, the cheers, and enjoying some special shopping time together. Lots of smiles, and being in the store with the rest of the mall closed made it seem very special, which I think all of the families who came felt as well. The awesome pricing and special deals just for the event made the adults VERY happy! We saved big, plus earned double Club Justice reward points.
I think my daughter’s favorite part of the whole night, aside from having it be all about her, was choosing some special items for some very special friends, some matching, some coordinating, and some just fun, and being able to gift them in the following days.
I think she’s going to handle this transition to the upstairs classrooms, to being nine, and classmates who are both kind and unkind with confidence this year. Her Justice wardrobe? That just boosts the confidence she’s feeling inside.
She’s very excited to wear her awesome Friday shirt on a Friday! (Look for the cropped football tee at ShopJustice.Com

I have a freshman this year and she is in that tomboy stage currently and she is so hard to shop for. I loved Justice store for getting clothes, they got a lot of good deals.

My daughter loves shopping at Justice. It has things that are too old and not too young.

Justice has cute clothes. My daughter would have loved these outfits when she was younger. I should see if they have any outfits for my nieces.

Looks like they have a lot of great clothes for tweens. And looks like she had a blast shopping. I would definitely check it out if I had a tween girl.

I celebrated so much when Justice opened their stores here in London Ontario. Why? Because they have real clothing for real girls not for cartoon versions of girls and Barbie dolls. I always felt that these clothes were ones both tweens and tweens and Moms could happily support. Wish my girls still fit their adorable clothing but we are teens now and into adult sizes which is a hard one to cope with. My older daughter is short and super athletic and she was able to fit and buy jeans at Justice when literally nobody else sold sizes that fit. It made us crazy shopping back then because it was simply a crappy experience until we found Justice. They get nothing but high praise from me.

We haven’t started shopping at Justice yet, but my daughter loves picking out her own outfits when we go shopping for clothes. She’s only 4 and already has her own style and clothing taste. Thankfully she likes the idea of making sure she matches.

I have two sons and was always a step behind with their fashion. Baggy, not baggy, for one season everything was pink- a pale pink. I was a hero for finding a pale pink Lacoste shirt in a thrift store. go Mum!

I love it! The right clothes can really boost a girl’s confidence. These years are the hardest for girls, I think, and the more self-confidence the better.

It’s great when kids can start to learn how to put together outfits that they like! The camo hoodie is so cute!!! She’ll definitely be the best dressed kid in school this year.
