My Thoughts:
I am relatively new to the whole Barney phenomenon, now that I have two young daughters. So, when I was sent a copy of the new Barney: I Love My Friends from HIT Entertainment and Lionsgate, I didn’t know what to expect. I had previously watched snippets of Barney when babysitting my nephew and neighbor’s children over the years, but never sat down and actual watched an episode from start to finish. I remember when Barney first aired on television. I was babysitting our neighbor’s children and they happened to flip through the channels and left it on Barney. By the end of the show, we were all singing, “If You Are Happy And You Know It,” as well as the now popular, “I Love You, You Love Me..” song Barney and Friends is famous for. And, now, over a decade later, this show is still as popular with the preschool audience as it was when it first aired.
I have to say, after watching this film in its entirety, I can see why children and parents alike like Barney so much. The music was catchy, and the storyline provided both an educational and entertaining aspect for children. If you have older children (ages 4+), you can discuss the show in further detail, asking children what they learned, as well as learn and sing new, wholesome songs together. My daughter is only 18 months old, but as soon as I put the movie on, she couldn’t stop singing and dancing along. This movie is a great way to teach your child about friends and feelings.
So, if your children like watching Barney and Friends on television, why not pick up this new DVD release and share with them? They will learn valuable lesson on friendship through fun adventures and sing-a-long.
