I’m doing something I’ve not really done before. I’m watching a screen version of books before i read the stories themselves. I rarely, if ever, do this, but when I heard that the ever-popular Outlander series penned by Diana Gabaldon, was coming to Starz in August, my curiosity got the best of me and I had to sneak a peek (episode 1). It took all of 5 minutes to be hooked. I’m a sitcom watcher through and through and I fell in love with this show so fast, and so hard…
Outlander offers romance, science fiction, history, and adventure all wrapped up in one show.
Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened.
I was able to sneak another peek (episode 2) and now I’m stuck waiting (quite impatiently) to find out what happens next for Claire, and Jamie, and wondering if we will ultimately see our heroine back in her own time or will she stay put in 1743…and what will become of Frank? When will we see a glimpse of him again? Also, just how much of a role will Geillis play in this series (I think we’ll see a lot of her, shown below)
When she is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Outlander will premiere August 9th at 9PM EST/PST on Starz via Time Warner Cable. (If you don’t already have Starz, you have plenty of time to get it ordered before the series premiere). I am in love with this show. My husband got really into it too…he can say otherwise, but we had a technical glitch mid-word during our screening of episode two and he was just as anxious as I was to see the remainder of that show….so I know he’s enjoying it as well. There’s so many elements that appeal to so many interests, it’s hard to imagine someone not loving this! Even if I wasn’t 1/4 Scottish, I would still love it. Although I won’t lie…there’s something about men in kilts….
So who’s read the books? And who is watching the show with me August 9?
