Remember last week I told you about our little get togethers with friends, to share Gutzy Gear and Gutzies patches with them? Well, Gutzy Gear themselves also sent us $25 Paypal and some extra gear so that we could pay things forward and give a student in need a backpack full of school supplies. This is something that I love to do with my children each fall- we fill a backpack with supplies (and a few extras) and bring it to the school. I haven’t a clue who receives them, but there’s always a need, and I feel it is always important to do what we can to help others. Given the crazy sales that can be found around back to school time for school supplies, a little bit can and will go a very, very long way.
We had some fun getting supplies for our “mystery friend” and filled a brand new backpack with fun folders, notebook, pencils, pencil sharpener, erasers, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue sticks, glue, tissues, hand sanitizer, a pencil box, scissors and of course, some Gutzy Gear. We kind of did neutral purchasing so with the Gutzy Gear strap covers and patches, the recipient can be sure to kind of personalize their bag and make it their own.
Thanks to the $25 from Gutzy Gear to get a backpack filled, we were able to also give that same amount at church last weekend, so that school social workers could help fill in the gaps of what other students may still need…because we didn’t spend the amount we normally set aside for paying it forward. So, essentially, they helped us to double what we’re able to give back, and that’s pretty awesome, I think.
I already thought Gutzy Gear was a fun idea, and a great, affordable way for kids to express themselves and their individual tastes, or to spruce up a handmedown, just have some fun, etc…but with the Pay It Forward concept, I have to say I love them more now.
Do you love to pay it forward? I sure do! If you have any suggestions or ideas, or stories you’d like to share, please do. They make my heart feel so happy- but it’s always nice to hear new ideas that people have. We can do so much even without spending a ton!

Paying it forward is such a great thing to do to help others. There are so many ways to help pay it forward. Helping an elderly parent out with chores! Helping a neighbor out with shoveling snow! Helping others by looking for ways every day to make someone’s day better. A person does not always have to Pay it Forward by only monetarily, but also by giving of their time to help!

What a great idea. I wish we could see their faces when they receive the backpack filled up. I bet it just makes their day! School supplies were tough for us this year so I can’t imagine not being able to get the kids what they needed. What a blessing this is for someone!

Paying it forward is such a great concept, especially for kids! You can’t be doing something not-so-nice if you’re focused on doing something great for someone else, right? 🙂
It makes me sad how many schools and students need school supplies. I hope that changes…someday.
