I love my kids like crazy as most moms do- but as we all know they have the ability to also drive us crazy! The key to keeping your sanity is to steal a few minutes of indulgence- without the kids. This is usually much easier said than done of course, because they can hear the rustle of a bag of chips or the gentle closing of a bathroom door from the other end of the house (but can’t hear you yelling for them to come to the bathtub for 10 minutes, go figure!) I have developed a few sneaky tricks that can buy you a few stolen moments where you need it the most and restore some sanity. Figuring out some ways to sneak indulgences without the kids can be tricky- thanks to Muller for sponsoring today’s post!
Snacking– Slip a creamy new dessert inspired Muller Yogurt with flavors like Strawberry Cheesecake or Raspberry Brownie Supreme in an empty vegetable bag. Broccoli, spinach, anything green- trust me they will run for the hills and that goodness is all yours!
Bathing– Sigh… the cry of moms across the world over ” I just want to pee/shower/brush my teeth, etc.. alone!” I love to see them playing, splashing, and laughing in the tub- one of my great joys as a mom. But little people as much as you love an audience for all your business- mommy doesn’t. This includes showering. Anything, really. I swear the second I turn a faucet on or unbutton my pants they come running!
Technology– I love to watch mom parody videos but as soon as I sit at the computer the kids want to take it over to watch tween characters learn life lessons or build enormous structures from Legos…insert whine…mommy needs her technology time too! The trick to this is simple, just plug headphones into the computer and hide in your closet for 15 minutes. This hilarious new video from Girls With Glasses- Satisfy Me (Yogurt With Benefits) is one of my favorites, make sure you check it out.
Dinner Time– Dinner hour is hard, mama, soooo hard. Whining, begging, impatience- and the kids are terrible too! Keeping them busy is key here! Give them a healthy snack while you get it prepared and on the table- if you get really desperate, try one of those Muller Yogurts, the little buggers will love them and you don’t have to worry about them filling up on junk.
Phone Calls– You just need to get through one phone call without interruption right? I long ago lost count of how many times I’ve reminded them unless they are hurt, or someone is bleeding, to not interrupt a call… This is where there turn at the technology comes in, plop those little curtain climbers in front of some animated flick, or give them an “educational” app to play on your phone or tablet. That should buy you at least 3-4 minutes, right? Right? *tears*
This post was written tongue in cheek and I adore my children and spend lots of quality time with them- but we know that me time sometimes must be taken with cleverly timed sneakiness.

Haha ha I love the veggie bag! My kids are toddlers but I make sure they all nap at the same time. Gives me a moment to regroup and sometimes indulge.

This is a fantastic way to hide your treats. I will have to try this. My kids would never look in a frozen veggies bag. This looks like a delicious treat.

I never thought of hiding the goodies in a vegetable bag. What a sneaky idea. I tend to hide my goodies in the top cupboard way at the back. It doesn’t always work.

Bubble baths are my saving grace!!! I seriously have to have one every night when my kids go to bed.

When my son was little, my husband and I had to take turns playing with him while the other had our ice cream. My son was crazy for ice cream, and he got SUPER grumpy when we wouldn’t let him eat it until he popped.

My kids are of the four legged variety, so any indulgence I have has to be when they’re outside going potty. LOL

I’m so going to hide this from my kids. This looks good and it needs to be an mom’s only treat.

Luckily, I have a mini fridge in my room so I don’t have to hide anything. But, I use to hide the cookies in the coffee can…my kids never looked there lol.

Hiding the good stuff in the veggies is pure genius. I like to indulge once their in bed for the evening…. very low chances of getting caught. Ya just gotta make sure to shove the evidence deep down to the bottom of the trash bag. Haha.

Great ideas. I just wait until they are at school or in bed.

I’m an empty nester now so my days of having to sneak indulgences are behind me but I do remember them. I use to sneak a snack in the basement when putting in a load of laundry so my daughter wouldn’t see me eating a candy bar before dinner.
