I always wonder what makes people enjoy their exercise routine? I can’t seem to fine one i enjoy. I want to like exercise. I just don’t. So I ask YOU, what exercise programs do you enjoy
Is anyone else like me, and feeling like there are eleventy billion exercise programs out there and you just don’t know what to start with or which direction to turn? I did couch 2 5k, and NEED to do it again. But I feel like I should be doing something ELSE. I wouldn’t mind looking more like this girl pictured above than…well…what I look like now.
Something else, like strength training? Or a kid-friendly workout I can do on days like today that are cold, rainy and we’re stuck in the house? Gym memberships aren’t a feasible option at this point- gyms around us that are affordable don’t offer childcare. The ones that offer childcare are way out of price range.
So, home it is. I do have Zumba Fitness Rush for Kinect that I love, and the kids can try to do with me, which is great. We’re all up and moving together, the kids get a good laugh at mommy, and I burn some calories. Someday, we’ll get past the “Learn the Steps” mode, but for now, it’s a whole lot of fun, tons of giggles, and many calories vanishing. (We are past this stage, but it was a HUGE help for me….huge.)
I’m wanting to try something new. Maybe something with a timeline/calendar to follow? I know Gayle is doing a program and sharing about it on here. I want to know what others have tried- especially for those who were NOT in shape…or at least, in overly round shape when they started.

I started off just walking around the block while the kids rode their bikes/scooters. Then, after getting more energy I started running (like a snail, but still I was running). 😀 After injuring my feet because my shoes were too worn out and I wasn’t giving myself enough rest between increasing my mileage – I switched to the treadmill I’ve had for years and given up using. Now I run on the treadmill 3-4 days a week and I try to run outside 1-2 days each week (I do a minimum of 5 days exercise a week). I also have a bike and go for a bike ride once every week or two. I do basic strength training exercises every other day (3 days a week)… Exercising at home is quicker (and way cheaper) than going to the gym!

I used the couch to 5k program to start running last Summer. I dropped 20lbs and have been running 10k races. I still have lots more to lose but I feel so much better. I just needed something to get me out and moving. I used to run in high school so it was more a rekindling so I say find something you love and you’ll stick with it!

Before TurboFire, I was doing ExerBeat on Wii. Very fun and there are daily and weekly challenges to keep me motivated.

I do TurboFire. I love it. Dance, kick boxing and strength training. The best ever. I often do fitness challenges and get a group of other gals and guys together so we can keep each other accountable. That is the best way especially if you are working out at home.

I recently had a baby so no exercise for me yet but once I can, I’ll be working out on my treadmill

All this exercise talk is exhausting! =)
I really need to find a good program and stick with it!
This looks tough, but very fun. Which, I think helps get you over that ‘Meh’ hurdle.

All of these are pretty tough. Too bad I gave up my love for calisthenics when I left the Army.

I love the Tracy Anderson Method, but rarely have time during the day to do the workout. I love the elliptical machine and you can’t beat a good old jog!

I enjoy taking my daughter on walks and swimming. But I don’t have much chance for the swimming and it’s been raining every day for weeks. I’m not a big fan of other exercise, it causes a lot of joint pain in my knees. I know it’s very good for me, but I’m not a fan of pain .lol.

I have done a lot of Leslie Sansone walking videos in the past…now I run a lot at home around my beautiful city of Grants Pass Oregon…I have Zumba Fitness for the Wii but I’m just not coordinated enough to have fun with it! I am thinking about digging out my “The Firm” videos and trying those now that I’m in great shape…I hear a lot of good about “Insanity” and “P90x” programs…good luck finding something sweetie, blessings! Come on by my blog “I Survived & Now I Run” all about my journey from cancer to becoming a runner at 40 and training for my first half-marathon in September, if that would interest you!

P90X. I just started – tomorrow is the beginning of week 3. I do the “lean” version instead of the classic, though, because I’m a fatty and not looking to be a pumped up dude.
queenb says
